• Add every room you plan to treat — including corridors, staircase landings, and closets if you are flooring or painting them. The most common mistake on a whole-home material order is forgetting the corridor, which on a typical 10 Marla Pakistani house is 80 to 120 sq ft of material you suddenly need on day two.
• Covered area (what you walk on, inside the walls) and built-up area (covered plus wall thickness) differ by 10 to 12 percent. Real-estate listings sometimes quote built-up to make the number look bigger. For material ordering, always use covered area — you do not buy flooring for the wall thickness.
• L-shaped rooms become two rectangles in this calculator. T-shapes become two or three. Split mentally, enter each piece as its own 'room' with a clear label, and the tool sums them. For genuinely curved spaces (rare in Pakistani residential), the closest rectangular approximation with a 5 percent accuracy buffer works fine.
• AC sizing uses 20 to 30 BTU per hour per square foot for Pakistani climates. A 1,500 sq ft house needs roughly 30,000 to 45,000 BTU/hr of cooling — about 2.5 to 3.5 tons of split AC capacity. Multiply your room-by-room total by the climate-adjusted BTU rate to size your AC accurately, before the salesman upsells you a bigger system.
• After you get the total, divide by 272 for Marla in the standard system. A 2,500 sq ft house is roughly 9.19 Marla. Round to the nearest half-Marla for listing comparisons — that is the precision Pakistani buyers and sellers actually negotiate in.
